“TOWER OF DAVID”
Meter Reading: 50/100
Well, we got what we
wanted- Brody. Was it worth all the build-up? I experienced so many different
emotions during last Sunday’s “Tower of David” episodes, with the main emotion
being anger. Another week, another awful episode. Let’s get straight into C’MON
HOMELAND because there’s a lot to cover:
C’MON HOMELAND:
1. Let’s start with a clear #1: Brody turning up in
Caita La Mar, Venezuela. Excuse me, he’s where???? We last left Brody on the
Canadian – U.S. border at the end of Season 2 and now he’s in Caracas? Maybe we
can assume that the Colombians (we find Brody bleeding with bullet wounds in
his abdomen) paid someone to have him transported by boat, submarine or plane
to South America. Sure, Homeland. Make me feel like an idiot and I’ll imagine
whatever I want to because you will never explain how things happened. I
guarantee Brody getting from Canada to South America goes unrevealed. I hope it
doesn’t, but I bet it does. C’MON
HOMELAND
2. Why are the writers trying to draw parallels
between Carrie and Brody’s circumstances? Is this what the show is going to
resort to? The writers are trying so hard to make something out of nothing. At
the end of the episode the writers leave the audience with Carrie, a
mentally-ill human being and Brody, a nationally-wanted terrorist confined to
their little areas, ALONE. Their lives are so similar so why wouldn’t we want
to draw parallels? Umm, no. This tactic is lazy and is going to lead to more
unrealistic storylines where Carrie eventually saves Brody. Maybe, if we’re
lucky, Carrie will build a hot air balloon and float down to South America and
save Brody! C’MON HOMELAND!!
3. Brody, self-injecting heroine into his bloodstream
trying to kill himself. Cop out. C’MON
HOMELAND
4. Why is the Venezuelan gang not collecting on the
$10 million? And, not that I care because I don’t, but how does the leader of a
gang in Venezuela know Carrie Mathison? C’MON
HOMELAND
5. Throughout the series, Brody has shown himself
to be a formidable fighter as well as a strategic thinker. Did he really think
that going to a mosque would fly because he somewhat converted to Islam? Did he
think he could just leave a compound surrounded by armed gang members? This
makes very little sense and does not fall in line with the typical Brody
character we have come to know over the last 2 seasons. C’MON HOMELAND
6. How can the 2 most popular characters not have
any air time for an hour-long episode? Where are Saul and Quinn? C’MON HOMELAND
So I know what you’re thinking, what are the silver linings because things seem pretty dim right now? Well, I am not sure that I know of any right now…but I am happy that the Dana Brody / Brody family storyline went untouched for one.
PREDICTIONS:
·
The show will (definitely)
be cancelled at the end of this current season
Character(s) of the
Week:
Erik Dellums. What a
creepy, disgusting character!
I knew I recognized him
but did could not place the exact show I knew him from. Originally, I thought
that he was the morgue examiner on a Law & Order series and I was close. For
all of you “The Wire” fans out there, he played the medical examiner from
2002-2004. I was so damn close!
Question of the Week:
What storyline could
possibly salvage this season (or series) for Homeland?
Brody needs to become a terrorist again. Or kill Carrie.
ReplyDeletealso to answer some of your questions, I listened to grantland podcast and they theorized that Carrie had a worldwide network set up to escape in case something ever happened to her. So they said that Brody is using this network. Not that it totally adds up.
ReplyDeleteI caved in and watched before my exam. I did regret wasting my hour on this episode! whattheheckkkk, I was so disappointed. I really hope they step it up because now that Dexter is done, my life has a void, and Homeland is currently not filling it.
