Homeland

“IN MEMORIAM”

Meter Reading: 32/100

What I did not like about this week’s episode:

·         Everything
·         Carrie being able to sneak into the interrogation room and question Roya Hammad
·         Carrie being able to lead an FBI tactical team even though she works for a different organization
·         Carrie, in her vehicle, making a left-hand turn from the right-hand lane
·         Why didn’t the medic clean off Carrie’s blood-filled face?
·         Estes being able to threaten Saul even though the discovery of Estes wrong-doing is 10x worse than Saul’s
·         Abu Nazir hiding away in the same place he kidnaps and tortures his victims
·         Abu Nazir not picking up a weapon after slitting the throat of the FBI agent
·         Abu Nazir being dead (the only storyline left is Quinn killing Brody, then the show is over)
·         Homeland writers’ being too lazy to create suspense and instead wasting precious Homeland minutes with:
o    Carrie cleaning the blood off her face in the bathroom (~1.5 minutes)
o    Jess and Brody having a pointless conversation in the car after returning back home (~5 minutes)
o    Carrie and Brody having a moment at the end of the episode, weirdly touching each other’s face (~3 minutes)
·         Dana not being grateful to have milk, then essentially tossing it onto the floor because there was a small leak (I wish Homeland had American Idol-esque qualities and the audience determined who would be killed off from week to week – Dana would lead that Power Ranking, followed by Uncle Mike in a close 2nd place). Who else would enjoy that format?
·         Carrie being able to jump to conclusions and decide that Galvez is the mole inside the CIA. I will say that I am glad that the Galvez being the mole storyline is over. I think all of America at one point or another thought Galvez might have been the mole.

What I did not understand about this week’s episode:

·         Everything
·         Quinn, although his only mission is to be a soldier and assassinate Brody, still running the entire operation
·         Jess not wanting to know Brody’s secrets although she’s been badgering him about it the entire season

What I liked about this week’s episode:

·         Almost nothing
·         Brody, after hearing the news of Abu Nazir’s death, breaks down into tears. I’m pretty sure this scene will garner Brody his 2nd straight Emmy for Best Actor.
·         Roya Hammad still looking great after days of captivity
·         Saul’s attitude during the polygraph test
·         Saul’s shirt
·         Saul’s beard
·         Saul’s glasses

What needs to happen in next week’s episode / Predictions:

·         Less love storyline and more suspense. The fact that I was not on the edge of my seat biting my fingernails for more than 2 minutes during the 2nd to last episode of the season is disgraceful. MORE SUSPENSE!
·         Brody needs to kill something or someone
·         Dana needs to get killed by something or someone
·         Galvez bleeds to death thanks to Carrie’s intuition that he was the mole inside the CIA
·         After Saul notifies Carrie that Estes is planning a hit on Brody via Quinn, Carrie will kill Quinn “accidentally”
·         Homeland will leave us with one of the biggest cliffhangers in all of television history

Character(s) of the Week: Since Homeland was clearly awful this week, I give you one of my favorite skits of all time.

  2. DAD! GROSS! THIS MILK IS LEAKING! GROSS! DAD! DAD GROSS!

My biggest disappointment from this episode is learning that Saul does not occasionally go by the nickname of "Saul 'The Bear' Berenson."

  4. My first response on here, been reading them all (nice work Yous/everyone else) and finally had the time to respond. It was almost sad to watch. I've loved this show since the beginning as I know you all have as well, and I really hope they can pull something off to keep us excited for the next season, but it's pretty hard to imagine how.

Most of the faults have already been mentioned but I'm going to stress on them some more. Abu Nazir, the man who (if not for Brody bailing last second) successfully plotted an attack on many US members of staff, who also has access to get over 200 pounds of explosives, can't get himself more than a knife? The same man who was able to sneak into America without detection when there is an entire agency devoted to his capture can't build a fake wall that won't be discovered by one person in the dark?

So many things, with how Carrie captures him, how he doesn't kill her (instead trying to give her the sleeper hold?), just overall feels like they didn't care anymore. It reminds me of a video game, that you play for ages and ages, and when it finally comes time to beat the final boss, it always leaves you unsatisfied how easy it was.

I didn't really notice how long those pointless scenes were, I guess was waiting for something to happen the whole time and it never came.

Well, I guess once. I liked the scene with Carrie investigating Roya. Probably because it was the only time I actually popped up a bit, when Roya just turns on her at the end.

Saul "The Bear" better cause some shit next episode. That's all I got.

  5. Ladies and Gents...

1st with the good...Saul just being the man while being under intense interrogation, 'a plot to kill a US Congressman, why don't you ask me some questions about that?' Totally agree that the fact Saul doesn't care for the nickname 'Bear' was nearly as big of a letdown as this episode.

On to the bad...SportsCenter bottomline style

Lack of naked Jess--Dana receives milk; accelerates rate of leaking--Abu Nazir takes 3 starting Knives in 1st 3 rounds of Weapons draft; declares he is now unstoppable--Carrie gets played in interrogation, but gets last laugh thanks to mastery of industrial architecture--Estes still being a dick, despite assassination plot--Saul refuses to be drafted by the 'Bear's--Brody talking openly on a cell phone about how he assassinated the VP despite being a CIA double agent and target of black ops operation- BREAKING: Nazir easily stopped thanks to guns--Chris |9:31EST

The ugly...Carrie's bloody face, get that woman a towel!

    Predictions/Hopes and dreams:
-Carrie kills Quinn and goes on run with Brody/Saul joins in a sidecar on their motorcycle
-There is a retalatory terrorist attack/lead by Al Nazombie
-Saul is able to use leverage to force Estes out instead/feeling an adrenaline rush after forcing Estes out Saul feels like such a beast he tears off his shirt and yells 'FEAR THE BEAR!'
-Dana gets even more emo/Dana gets even less screentime
-Someone gives a shit about Chris/we quickly realize why no one gives a shit about Chris

I am keeping the faith the writers have a trick up their sleeves that will make the finale awesome...and it better not be that Galvez IS a mole!
